Skype is free software that can be downloaded to your computer and used to communicate with people around the world via audio and/or video. It's very flexible and allows for conference calls and instant messaging - all for free. You'll want to create a free account and then understand the difference between free and premium accounts. You can also have options to record the audio/video using some alternative software packages (found in the tutorial).
