Canvas Updates

Product Releases:

New updates included Discussions, Groups, People, and the User Interface. A nice new feature is the Student Context Card.

Canvas + Zoom
Working in concert with technologists from the University of New Hampshire, ESU is close to having automatic ZOOM recording upload capability into Canvas. This handshake utilizes Kaltura (eg My Media). In order to make this work, however, some setup needs to occur within the ZOOM admin console for each faculty user. Contact one of the Instructional Designers for information regarding this capability.

Tell Your Story
Are you interested in learning how to use Canvas better? Or perhaps you want to share an idea of how you use Canvas. What better way than to hear from your fellow faculty. Join us for Tell Your Story on March 10th. This one-day event will include a series of mini-presentations from faculty. For more information and a sign-up form, see: http://www.emporia.edu/it/learning/tell-your-story  We strongly encourage faculty to submit a presentation for one of the 12 mini sessions. Some nice ESU swag or gift certificates will be given to the selected presenters! Anyone is welcome to attend this free learning event.

7 Things You Should Know About….
The Online Readiness Course. We just launched our second 6-week Online Readiness Course. For more information about the ORC, see: http://www.emporia.edu/it/learning/7things/ORC.pdf

2016-2017 ESU Faculty/Student Technology Survey
In November, a technology survey was conducted for the ESU student and faculty population. The survey was based on a national study conducted each year by EDUCAUSE, an organization that helps those who lead, manage, and use information technology to shape strategic IT decisions at every level within higher education. To see the results of those surveys, refer to: http://www.emporia.edu/it/learning/research.html

Credly + Canvas
Credly Microcredentials now integrates into Canvas! This allows for rule-based pathways that trigger the award of digital badges. For information on how to set up this integration, contact one of the Instructional Designers.
